Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed
II Timothy 2:15

Hi,

My name is Mark Crowe.  I am the Awana Club Commander at Cumberland Baptist Church.  The Club meets every Wednesday night at 6:30. We open with a flag ceremony for all of the clubbers; Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T. The three main parts of the program are Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time

AWANA is an international, non–denominational, Bible-centered children’s program. At CBC our club is geared for 3 -year-olds through 6 – graders. The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the phrase, “Approved workmen are not ashamed…” (2 Timothy 2:15). Our goal is to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.

Game Time is always exciting! We encourage children to play fair, cheer for each child and team and really encourage all of them to finish whatever they are participating in.  Due to engaging in various types of athletic events we ask that the children wear proper shoes for games: close-toed, non-slip, non-marking shoes for running. Directors assign clubbers to teams at the beginning of the year; however, they may reassign teams as needed.

During Handbook Time, leaders listen to verses and help children understand and apply them. Clubbers should pass at least one section each week. We strongly encourage parental involvement.

Council Time consists of music, announcements, testimonies, a Biblical message and award presentations. We give major awards for completing books at the Awards Program in May; however, club directors give smaller awards for completing sections in their books throughout the year.

We have a great Awana Club at CBC and would love for your children to join us!

Mark Crowe

Cubbies

Cubbies is designed for boys and girls during the two years before they start Kindergarten. This is normally ages 3 & 4. The only requirement is that they are potty-trained. The Cubbies memorize Bible verses and have some neat hands-on projects to do with mom or dad. During the evening, Cubbies learning about our great God is through a Bible story lesson and playing games.
Sparks
Sparks is a club for boys and girls who are in Kindergarten, First Grade, or Second Grade. The Sparks are divided into those three different age brackets during the evening. During the evening, the Sparks have Green Meadow Time (a Bible lesson), Sparkle Time (Handbook memory and recitation), and Game Time. The Sparks also have special sections in their books in which they get to do projects with mom or dad.
T and T (Truth and Training)
T and T encompasses:
·3rd - 6th Grade

The four T and T books include sections of Bible memory, Bible study, special activities, and creative humor. Each Wednesday evening, the T and T clubs have a Bible lesson, handbook time which includes Bible memory verses, and game time.
